Free Online Support Groups for Trauma

Trauma is not just what happened. It is how the body, mind, and life keep responding afterward. Peer support groups offer a place to talk about that with people who understand the long aftermath.

Live groups available daily.

Coping with Loneliness Together

Hi Everybody. As trauma survivors, most of us know, only too well, how hard it can be to cope with loneliness: our battles with grief, self-isolation & moodiness can drain our energy & challenge our quality of life. Truth is, too much ‘time alone’ can cause even the strongest people to sink into despair. Why struggle by yourself, when here at Sharewell, you can enjoy the caring connections & support that you deserve? In these sessions, I’ll read a thoughtful quote & we’ll each have a chance to share whatever challenges come up. If there’s enough time, we can also explore ways to relax more, versus ‘tense up’ or ‘run away’ from difficult feelings like loneliness. Hopefully, a 5pm (West Coast) time slot will allow people in other time zones to join us. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Topic context

Understanding trauma

Experiencing trauma—whether recent or from the past—can leave deep emotional scars that affect daily life. It often creates a sense of disconnection or hypervigilance that can be difficult to explain to those who haven’t lived through it. Peer support helps normalize trauma responses and provides a safe space to share, listen, and heal. Being with others who understand trauma firsthand fosters compassion and reduces feelings of shame. Healing doesn’t have to be a solitary process.

Why it helps

How peer support helps with trauma

Peer support helps with trauma because the impact often lasts longer than people around you can hold. A group can offer steady recognition, language, and the relief of being among others who know what it is to live with after-effects.

Frequently asked questions

What do trauma support groups help with?

They help people talk about the impact of difficult experiences, including big-T trauma and ongoing harm, with peers who understand the long aftermath.

Do I have to share what happened?

No. Many groups focus on present-day impact, coping, and connection rather than retelling the trauma itself.

Are these groups for any kind of trauma?

Yes. People affected by abuse, accidents, medical trauma, racial trauma, war, grief, and other experiences are welcome across different groups on the platform.
