(he/him)
I am a divorced 74 year old man who became addicted to alcohol at age 64. After 2 1/2 years I entered an outpatient program. Shortly thereafter, I began to experience strong anxiety sensations and was diagnosed with Social and Generalized Anxiety. I have experienced emotional abuse in the past. I value peer support as an integral part of my recovery from alcohol abuse and managing my anxiety.
Host Reviews
"Glimmeratti Gang is a lovely way to kick it on the prekend! Woo hoo! Glimmers work!t Thank you all!"
"The host was able to inform us what is a glimmer. How it may differ than being thankful or grateful and etc. The peer group got to share experiences of the glimmers from the past two weeks."
"Jacks sessions are always so relaxed and grounding. He asks us to reflect on important questions and set goals.. really important stuff at any age! "
"These bi-weekly sessions not only help me stay accountable for my vision-related goals but also provide a wealth of knowledge and inspiration from the other participants. Kudos, Jack, for holding this space for all of us."
"Jack did a wonderful job hosting this Host Support Circle. Would very much recommend for hosts to attend"

What I Hope to Share
I hope to contribute my own story, my successes and failures, and my learnings to the collective consciousness of ShareWell. I hope to obtain a feeling of being understood and accepted, a sense of being where I belong, and practical tips and techniques I can apply to my everyday life.
What Brought Me to ShareWell
Since I knew the value of peer support from my alcohol-abuse recovery, I went looking for support to help manage my anxiety. I found therapists holding 90-minute sessions for 6-8 people for $60-80 per session, but not true peer support. Until (thru MeetUp) I joined ShareWell. I have been delighted with my experience and now host regular anxiety support meetings.
