Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Support Groups Online

People with cystic fibrosis are told to stay apart from each other to avoid passing infections, which makes meeting others with CF very hard. ShareWell has free online support groups for people living with long-term illness, where adults with CF, parents and caregivers can connect safely by video.

Live groups available daily.

Understanding cystic fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis, or CF, is a genetic disorder that causes problems with breathing and digestion. Thick, sticky mucus makes lung infections more likely, and because people with CF can pass germs to each other, they are advised to keep their distance from one another in person.

Why it helps

How peer support helps with cystic fibrosis

Peer support can help with cystic fibrosis because anxiety and low mood are common with CF, and in-person groups are often not an option. An online group is a way to be with people without any infection risk.

What cystic fibrosis groups often cover

  • Not being able to meet others with CF in person
  • Daily care that takes time and energy
  • Being diagnosed late or as an adult
  • Life after a lung transplant

ShareWell groups are peer support and do not give medical advice, so please keep working with your care team on anything about diagnosis or treatment. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
